2022 – A Year of Healthy Change?

Well here we are just barely dipping our toes into the New Year and I’m already getting email from people who are beginning to feel what could best be described as a weakening of their New Years resolution to get healthy in 2022. Perhaps you, unfortunately, find yourself slowly becoming a member of this group. I certainly hope that’s not true and that you’re one of those who are still focused and dedicated to making 2022 the year that you finally reclaim your body, recharge your emotional batteries and take control of your health. It is to all of those who have pledged to make 2022 a year of healthy change that I dedicate my message today.

I sincerely hope that all of your health resolutions, for the New Year, are still intact and going strong. However, I just read that a U.S. News and World Report study shows that 80% of resolutions fail by the second week of February. So, if you feel yourself beginning to slowly slide down that slippery slope as the end of January approaches, I suggest you make today the day you refocus, recommit and renew your vow. With that said, as we approach those choppy waters of February where many resolutions find the oceans floor, I want you to think about what kind of person you truly want to be in 2022. When all is said and done, there are really only three possibilities.

I once read somewhere that, if you boil it all down, there are truly only three kinds of people in this world. There are those who WATCH things happen; there are those who MAKE things happen and then there are those who scratch their heads and WONDER what the heck happened. Even though this may be a gross oversimplification of all humans, in my experience, I have found this to generally be very true. Regarding weight loss and healthy living, I find this classification of people to work extremely well. On the one hand, there are those who work hard, stay focused and refuse to let occasional slips or unexpected life interferences deter them from their ultimate goal. These are the people who succeed because they MAKE it happen no matter what. Then there are those who sit back and watch others succeed. They tend to be very supportive and give great advice but still tend to WATCH it happen to others.

And finally, there are those who just get lost in the emotional and behavioral abyss between what they want and what they do. These are the people who WONDER what the heck happened. So let me say this. I believe that every one of you reading this today has the ability to succeed. As a matter of fact, I know you CAN succeed but I don’t know if you WILL. That depends on what personality will best describe you in 2022? Will you watch? Will you wonder? Or will you make it happen?

It’s right there for the taking if you are willing to work and ready to make it happen!

Wishing You Great Health,
Dr. John H. Sklare
